And finally... ignored

Posted by The FSF 10th February 2017
A shirtless buffoon, with terrible touch and technique, invaded the pitch during a recent Honduran fixture between Olimpia and Motagua in an effort to be the centre of attention for a little while . Play continued, however - his scuffed finish ignored by all and sundry. And finally... is part of a Fanmail, our weekly e-bulletin. Sign-up here.

Walking away from trouble

Posted by Amanda Jacks 8th February 2017
Many clubs do good work in reaching out to young offenders via their charitable foundations, aiming to turn teenage lives around. But come matchday those same clubs and the police can take hardline approaches towards criminalising those very same youths. The FSF has kick-started a scheme which seeks to improve the situation for football clubs, the police and most importantly, fans. FSF caseworker ...

And finally... the classics

Posted by The FSF 3rd February 2017
Will we ever tire of seeing a defender bury a header into his own goal? We very much doubt it. This week's entry into the canon is Joeffrey Cuffaut's top corner effort, which sent Nancy on their way to a 2-0 home defeat against Bordeaux... Reaching out - family work leads to increase in junior sales says EFL

Posted by The FSF 31st January 2017
Recently, the English Football League (EFL) released figures showing that the number of families and young people attending matches has increased dramatically over the last ten years. The figures show that junior season ticket sales have increased by 37% over the past 10 years with 20% of all EFL club match attendees now under 16 years old. The EFL  say much of the increase is down to the impact ...

And finally... hold me close

Posted by The FSF 27th January 2017
Have you ever jumped on a colleague following a moment of triumph? This Turkish defender manages to undo the good work of his goalkeeper, who had saved a rather tame penalty. Lesson learned though, eh? And finally... is part of our weekly ebulletin. Sign-up here.

All clubs should follow Saints example - Foxes Trust

Posted by The FSF 24th January 2017
In previous years the champions of England would have seen their away fans facing category A prices on the road - not the case for travelling Leicester City fans though, who won't pay more than £30 on the road this season. Following their trip to St Mary's, where away tickets are capped at £20 thanks to Southampton sponsors Virgin Media, we spoke to Matt Davis at the Foxes Trust about the state of...

Dear visiting supporter, welcome to Blackpool

Posted by The FSF 23rd January 2017
We’re all used to binning unwanted leaflets foisted upon us in town centres and outside grounds. If you’re heading to Bloomfield Road anytime soon, however, then a new leaflet produced by the Blackpool Supporters’ Trust (BST) may actually be worth a read. With Bloomfield Road looking increasingly empty, the trust has printed off 5,000 leaflets welcoming away fans to the home of the Seasiders. It a...

And finally... millionaire's miss

Posted by The FSF 20th January 2017
Perennial overdogs Real Madrid, one of the richest clubs in the world, were beaten at home by Plucky Little Celta Vigo this week. Karim Benzema could have leveled the game in the 83rd minute if not for his hilariously satisfying miss... And finally... is part of Fanmail, our weekly newsletter. Sign-up here.

Wrexham fans challenge new police powers… and win

Posted by The FSF 18th January 2017
A father and son have successfully challenged the police over the use of new powers – setting an important legal precedent for fans and winning compensation in the process. Back on Saturday 26th March 2016, Wrexham fans made the long trip east to watch their side face Grimsby Town. Both sides were flying high and the Mariners won the game 1-0, eventually winning promotion to the EFL via the Nation...

Football fans have rights too

Posted by Amanda Jacks 17th January 2017
Last weekend, the Superintendent of Nottinghamshire Police said that Mansfield Town fans heading to their match against Notts County were not welcome in the city centre. Our caseworker Amanda Jacks tells us why its time to end such discriminatory thinking towards football fans... Discrimination in this country is illegal and rightly so. There are laws to ensure that everyone, regardless of their r...
